As the son of Binia and Max Bill , he was born in 1942 in Zurich and grew up in an artistic environment , which was characterized by the Concrete Art. A day job for many years archaeologist , Jakob Bill created a parallel continuous pictorial work , which undergoes further developments to this day. His patient , precise artistic work focuses on the color. He is devoted to her directly without detours. Therefore, there is no by him preparatory sketches or drawings that were to be regarded as separate works. Mostly he immediately begins with the painting. Bill James stands in the tradition of concrete art , which waives any image and the image gains from the tension of form and color, of light and dark and different movement elements of planar linear contrasts . The repertoire of forms provides the geometry , series and he playssystematic form -color constellations in different variants. Jacob Bills specific contribution to concrete art is the introduction of color gradients in the painting. This is different from classical representatives of Concrete Art such as Josef Albers, Richard Paul Lohse, or even his father, Max Bill , which evenly against each other put the color areas without shading . Jakob Bill achieved in this way and a shimmering vibration of the color , which outshines the surface boundary and leads to intriguing spatial effects .He refers basically all the colors into his work , even the non - colors black and white , but black is the limit of his painting , and it is usually him too hard. He seeks to bring balance to the contrasts in the relationship of color and form. In recent years, however, Bill is the proportion of shape more weight : Colored bars with alternating color sequence meander through the image and activate the eye, which must constantly decide what it described as " figure" and what sees as " reason " - the involvement of the observer in the development of kinetic effects of color is essential for Jakob Bill . To date, he has presented in 80 exhibitions in Switzerland and various countries in Europe his work .
