Description: A historic copper decorative plate made by Pel Bel Israel, dating to the 1950s. The plate is decorated in its center with a massive brass embossment in the figure of the sowing farmer after the design of Bezalel artist Ze'ev Raban. A verse from Tehillim, the book of Psalms, reads in Hebrew "Those who sew in tears will reap" (Psalm 126). The plate is not marked, however there is no doubt as to the maker. Measurements: 13 inches (33cm) wide Condition: The plate has pinholes: small holes on the plate. An important relic of Zionist and Early Israeli art. Made in the 1950s shortly after the formation of the State of Israel. The figure is made in the design of Israeli artist Ze'ev Raban and was used in many Zionist media, embodying the concept of sewing and putting hard work into building the Land of Israel. The use of religious texts in the context of the ideology was also a very popular thing of the day. This is a truly fascinating and important relic of the earliest period of the new State of Israel.
