Description: Up for sale is a Very Rare, SIGNED/INSCRIBED, TRUE First Edition/First Printing of Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. A Personal Account of the Mt. Everest Disaster. SIGNED/INSCRIBED, TRUE First Editions by the Critically Acclaimed Author of Into The Wild are Scarce and Becoming Increasingly Hard to Find!! Hardcover with its original, First State dust jacket, NOT price-clipped! Original price of $24.95. Published by Villard/Random House: New York, 1997. Boldly SIGNED/INSCRIBED by the celebrated author! SIGNED/INSCRIBED on the title page by the great Jon Krakauer! A TRUE First American Edition/First Printing/First State with ALL First Edition Points present! For Random House titles during this time period, of which Villard is an imprint, they would typically denote the First Printing of the First Edition with two specific identifiers. 1. The number line will end with "2". This may be a bit confusing to some individuals who are used to seeing a full number line concluding with a "1". 2. A "First Edition" statement will be clearly stated on the copyright page. There are other First Edition Point of Interest relating to the dust jacket to ensure that the jacket is a First State dust jacket. This includes the correct price on the front flap and the correct ISBN on the rear flap. As we previously mentioned, this was common with Random House titles. From Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas to I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, all of the First Editions/First Printings of these Random House titles had a number line ending in "2" and the First Edition statement clearly stated on the copyright page. This continued on for some time and can be seen in the title by such varied authors as James A. Michener, Mario Puzo, E. L. Doctorow, Robert Ludlum and so on. The books of theirs published by Random House had the same identifiers. For more info regarding this topic or simply to have a second opinion, we would kindly suggest visiting the Random House website. They will corroborate what we have stated and clearly articulate the necessary First Edition Points for their books. Once again, this is a TRUE First Edition/First Printing of this title. This rare treasure has some VERY clearly visible wear, but is still in Highly Desirable, Highly Collectible condition! The wear, however, is considerable and should be carefully examined/considered BEFORE buying. The book appears gently read and has no internal writing, no internal foxing, no remainder marks, no missing pages and is NOT Ex-Libris or a BCE. The binding feels shaky/loose but is still holding tight. All of the pages are present, fully attached and still surprisingly crisp and clean! Some general/shelf wear along with creases/scuffing/wear to the spine/corners/cloth boards, particularly noticeable near/along the edges, and creases/wear to the pages, NOT affecting the text, varying in size and severity and particularly noticeable on certain pages. The wear is very clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. The original, First State dust jacket is fully intact and NOT price-clipped but has extensive wear! Some general/shelf wear along with creases, scuffing, marks and rips. Please note the wear on the spine, at the corners and near/along the edges! The wear, particularly near/along the edges, is very clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. We tend to grade the condition of our books rather harshly and took into consideration any and all wear when determining the value of this rare book. Our VERY LOW asking price is a reflection of that consideration and if this copy was in better condition our asking price would be considerably higher. We purposely and closely photographed what we consider to be the most obvious and egregious wear. Once again, we want to reiterate that the wear to both the book and the dust jacket is VERY clearly visible! All of the wear should be carefully examined/considered BEFORE buying. Numerous photographs from various angles were taken for your consideration/inspection. Please closely and carefully view ALL the pictures for further clarification!! Following the conclusion of the auction, payment must be received within three days or the book will be re-listed. Please feel free to contact us with any and all questions. We are very proud of our 100% positive feedback/ranking and offer an easy, no questions asked return policy so you can buy with confidence! Thank you!!
