Description: This is a 51 piece set of Coin Silver by William Marsh circa 1859. Each piece is individually wrapped as they appear to have been professionally cleaned. Each piece is Monogrammed with a "B" as is the set recently sold (see link provided) This set is from the same set presented to the head of the Old Astor House, (Benjamin) Parker Jones, New York on June 14, 1859, the date of his wedding. Benjamin Parker Jones (1829-1885) was the Steward of Astor House from 1855 until his death in 1885. In 1861 Abraham Lincoln visited Astor House, spoke to an audience of 40,000 people from the front of the hotel and likely was served dinner using this set of fine silver!! Mr. Jones was good friends with many dignitaries including Daniel Webster, Franklin Pierce and Abraham Lincoln.
