Description: Icon of St. Nectarios (or Nektarios) of Aegina (1846-1920), Metropolitan of Pentapolis and Wonderworker of Aegina. St. Nectarios was officially recognized as a Saint by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople in 1961. His feast day is celebrated on November 9th. The icon appears to be printed on paper and attached to the particle board plaque in a manner like decoupage. The Greek inscription on the icon may translate to "Saint Nectarios of Pentapolis and Aegina" (or something similar). The icon measures approximately 3 9/16” x 5”. The age of the icon is unknown. The maker is unknown, but it’s possible that the icon was made in Greece. The icon may be handmade. Estate sale find. A beautiful and inspirational piece of Christian and Greek Orthodox art! The icon appears to be in very good to excellent used condition with signs of wear, such as scratches, scrapes, abrasions, nicks, chips, indentations, spots, and stray marks. A small area of particle board has been chipped in the upper left corner, resulting in the wrinkling and creasing of the paper above it. Please see photos, as they constitute part of the description.
