We only use a fabric especially woven and calendared down proof fabrics. We pick the down from the nest and never touch the birds. After the bird leaves the nest the down would just blow away. The down is dried immediately after gathered and sent to further cleaning in machines specially designed for eiderdown. It is heated up to 120°C for 24 hours to sterilize the down and make it easier to clean. After this treatment last feather and straws are removed by hand and at the end of this process our eiderdown has at least 98% purity. Finally the eiderdown is hand washed in warm water using special soap for down. How to clean my eider down duvetOur down comforters are machine washable. However, a down comforter that is properly covered will need to be cleaned very infrequently, if at all (excepting the unfortunate "accident", of course). If you do find it necessary to clean your down comforter, we recommend using a professional cleaner, experienced with down bedding, who will launder (not dry clean) and thoroughly dry your comforter.
