This jersey was made in 1993 as a prototype for the new Astros design. 1993 was the last year of the rainbow shoulder design in the Astrodome. The team was changing logos and styles for the 1994 season. This Size 44 Russell jersey was a preliminary mock up of the new Gold, Navy, and White "Open Star" design that would be introduced in 1994. This Knit jersey is made by Russell and is a size 44. The jersey is in perfect condition and includes "PLAYER" and "15" in Black on Gold tackle twill. Notice the player lettering is not on a name plate like what was actually created and used in 1994. This is a great collectible for jersey collectors and is a true 1 of 1! The jersey includes the important "100% Polyester" tag present in the lower tail of all Russell jerseys. Note there is no "R" on the sleeve since the team was experimenting with designs. The jersey is in great condition with no damage or repairs. The jersey was part of the Astros Authentics archives and was obtained from the Houston Astros and the Astros Authentics program.
