Around the plate, written in a scallop design, are the names of the 15 independent states from Delaware to Kentucky — the very first to belong to America in 1787 (through Kentucky was last to join in 1792). Circa: 1830. ABOUT CLEWS: Brothers Ralph and James Clews rented a pottery works in Staffordshire in 1815 and began producing high quality, blue transfer wares until their partnership ended in 1834.
