Description: 100% authentic hand signed letter on very rare and early Office of Civil Defense Letterhead (an office created shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in December of 1941) dated February 19th, 1942 (just over a month after the attack on Pearl Harbor) to Mrs. Al Gore, Sr ( the mom of future Vice President and almost the 43rd President of the United States, Al Gore, Jr) . Letter has great historic content and shows the push to get America engaged to win the War ! Al Gore, Sr. was then a staunch supporter of FDR in his role as a then Member of Congress in 1942 and later would actually resign his position in Congress to enlist in the War effort in the Army in late 1944. After the war, he was elected to the US Senate and had a long and distinguished career representing the Great State of Tennessee in that role. His son, Al Gore, Jr would also claim that same US Senate seat and would become the Vice President of the United States with President Bill Clinton and in many eyes was elected the 43rd President of the USA in 2000 in what is still the closest and most controversial election in US History.
