Top edge gilt. Boards have light shelf-wear present to the extremities (light soil present to the edges of the boards). No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. The Shah-nameh is considered the national epic of Persian-speakers and the Iranian world. It was written over the span of 35 years by Hakim Abu?l-Qasim Firdawsi Tusi (known commonly as Ferdowsi), as a celebration of the Persian Empire before the coming of the Arabs and Islam, beginning 7,000 years ago.
