Description: Product description:Here we have a very rare Silex Major 4" with a difficult-to-find alloy crossbar, stamped 'Made by Hardy Bros Ltd, Alnwick, England.' The back of the reel is marked with 'The Silex Major' Pat Nos 2206, 21131 & 4163 Size 4". This reel is right-hand winding and was made by Robert Marshall Scott—initials R.M.S. are marked inside the reel. It was a special order model with an alloy crossbar and twin handles. The brake handle is ivorine. The full-length original smooth brass foot is intact. The perforated alloy spool shows no cracks, line burn, or wobble. The reel has a lovely original patina. This is the rare model made circa the 1920s, featuring a knurled adjuster on the back. It comes with a leather protective case. A great reel for daily use or ideal for collectors. The item will be well-packed for transit inside a sturdy mailing box.
