Description: This is an absolutely stunning dress my mother, an expert seamstress, made in 1971. Sadly, all the hard work and attention to detail she put into it has only been admired from afar, or by holding it and touching it. It’s never been worn. No tags will be found within the dress, as again, my mother made this dress entirely on her own. I cannot properly convey via words or even through pictures just how stunning this dress truly is. The fabric is beautiful, silky and soft, with a luxurious look and feel. I’m unsure if the dress is rayon, silk, satin, or possibly chiffon. Regardless, it’s incredibly soft, smooth, and lustrous. The sleeves are see through with extremely, elegant sewn wrist cuffs that have small, delicate snaps should one want to present the dress with a tight wrist cuff. The exquisite feather & rose bud pattern on the lower part of the dress is also see through, however my mother perfectly sewed a piece of silky blue fabric underneath it. The bottom is very flowy, which gives it almost a princess look if the breeze were to blow or if one were to twirl around in it. As seen in pictures, the collar is very charming and appealing with the laced collar, in addition to the laced edges going down the front where five distinguished buttons were added for appeal. The back of the dress zips up/down and has a small clasp at the top to pull the collar in a bit tighter from behind. Somewhere this dress feels like the clothes designer who worked for the Wizard of Oz or perhaps Mary Poppins created this one of a kind, eye catching, alluring handmade dress. I will note, that clearly this dress is very long. I’m 5’9 and when I hold it up to me, roughly 3+inches hang below my feet. I imagine if I were wearing a sophisticated pair of high heels it would be just fine. If one wanted, they could have it altered to where it was shortened. Regardless, this is a one of a kind dress made 52 years ago by an accomplished, talented, and exceptional seamstress. Measurements: Pit to pit: 15.5” Waist: 25” Length from top to bottom: 55” I can only hope that others will see the beauty, uniqueness and expertise in this dress as myself and many others have over the years. In that, it is my hope that someone will love it, give it the praise, care, and attention it deserves. ***Because this dress is charming and high-class in addition to being 52 years old, I will not be accepting any returns. I assure you there are no holes, stains or other blemishes on it. It’s been carefully stored and well cared for over the course of five decades and counting. **Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions before purchasing**
