Description: GROUNDGRABBA Ground Anchor Screw Kit - 2 Ft Ground Anchors- 4 Pack Earth Screw Description GroundGrabba Pro II Packs GroundGrabba Pro II products are 24" long and created virtually unbreakable with unprecedented ground holding ability in soft loose and sandy substrates to semi hard grounds. The heavy duty screw in ground anchor stake gives you the best anchoring of all of our GR13 Pro series so far. Choose how many you want for your specific needs here. SPECIFICATIONS Made of Heat-Treated Carbon Steel Hot Dipped and Spray Galvanised for anti-corrosion Weight 1 pound Length 24″ Shaft thickness .39″ Flights (spirals) 1/2″ wide, .07″ thick 3/4″ hex head with 1″collar Can screw through 7/8″ washer hole and still hold under 1″ collar Weight: 1 lbsDimensions: 24 × 1 × 1.5 in WHAT YOU GET 4x GroundGrabba Pro II HOW IT WORKS HOW TRADITIONAL STAKES WORK Conventional stakes are based on a spike or skewer design. They rely on the surrounding ground density pushing against the shaft of the stake and are all but useless for vertical loads especially if the ground gets compromised with water. Normally such stakes are hammered into the ground at a 45-90 degree angle away from the load to rely on the grounds pull-out resistance to the shaft. By doing this the tent stake cannot reach down to its full length and therefore has even less ground mass weight holding it down which is kind of like a double whammy of losses. HOW GROUNDGRABBA WORKS The flights (or spiral) auger design provides a double solution to increasing the anchoring forces compared to a pin shaped hammer-in stake or even lag bolt designed screw-in stake: 1/ When the auger flights bite into the earth it draws the stake vertically down to its maximum length with greater surety and purchase and... 2/ The flights augurs extending out from the shaft creates a kind of plug shape in the ground of weight bearing down on the flights of the augur which a traditional stake simply cannot do. The density of the substrate will dictate the shape of the virtual plug or cone shape of earth that the flights will effect. The greater the density, the broader the shape. In sand for example there'll be very little plug shape if any therefore a greater depth is required for higher anchoring. This is where our GroundGrabba Pro II and to a lesser extent our GroundGrabba Pro I come to the fore. WHY CAN'T ONE STAKE WORK FOR ALL GROUNDS? WHY DO I NEED TO CARRY DIFFERENT STAKES? Very early in our search for a one stake to do it all design we came to the sobering realisation that one stake will not provide a solution to all ground anchoring or staking situations. It's logical if you think about it, just like one motor vehicle won't suit all peoples needs or shoes for feet or food to eat. With virtually unlimited ground types in the world from solid rock to quick sand it is clear a one stake solution is not possible. GroundGrabba's currently come in four different models (with more on the drawing board for larger commercial tasks): GroundGrabba Pro 12” 300mm steel for harder to average semi soft ground. GroundGrabba Pro 18” 450mm steel for not quite as hard to soft grounds including sand. GroundGrabba Pro 24” 600mm steel for not quite as hard to soft grounds including sand but with much higher anchoring ability. GroundGrabba Lite 15 ¾”400mm nylon for soft ground and sand only and NOT for vertical loads in soft sand. GroundGrabba adds Speed, requires Less Time and Energy so you can set up Faster, grab a beer, go fishing or simply relax. HOW TO DEPLOY STEPS TO DEPLOY 1/ Make sure that there are no underground dangers such as services not limited to: Electricity, gas, communications, water, sewage/effluent, drainage. 2/ Place the pointed tip of the GroundGrabba against the ground where you need to deploy it. 3/ Place the ¾” (19mm) socket (which is already in the drill ready for use) on top of the GroundGrabba hex head. 4/ Hold the drill steady with a tight grip in BOTH HANDS, one on the handle the other on top of the drill body so you can push down. 5/ Make sure your feet are about 12” (or 300mm) apart and you have a sure footing and that… 6/ The drill handle is just on the inside of your RIGHT leg (if using a longer GroundGrabba you may only be able to achieve this after the GroundGrabba has wound itself down far enough) which helps prevent wrist injury should the drill handle want to twist counter clockwise. 7/ Start your drill slowly (Best on a medium safety torque setting until you are competent with being able to increase it) pressing down on the drill. 8/ Keep the speed slow with downward force until you feel your drill slow down more as the flights bite into the ground and start to draw itself downward. 9/ As the GroundGrabba draws itself down, if you choose you may now reduce the down force. 10/ When the hex head of the GroundGrabba reaches almost ground level you can stop. NB. If you drill too fast or without enough downward force or both all you may do is bore a hole in the earth and your GroundGrabba will not anchor to the best of its ability. STEPS TO EXTRACTION 1/ Remove any loose attachments or tie downs from your GroundGrabba before starting the extraction process. 2/ Place the ¾” (19mm) socket (which is already in the drill ready for use) on top of the GroundGrabba hex head. 3/ Hold the drill steady with a tight grip in BOTH HANDS, one on the handle the other on top of the drill body so you can push down. 4/ Make sure your feet are about 12” (or 300mm) apart and you have a sure footing and that… 5/ The drill handle is just on the inside of your LEFT leg which helps prevent wrist injury should the drill handle want to twist clockwise. 6/ Start your drill slowly, or if experienced it’s ok to use high speed (Best on a medium safety torque setting until you are competent with being able to increase it) pressing down on the drill. 7/ Keep the speed slow (or high speed when experienced) with downward force so as to keep the drill socket connected to the hex head and the GroundGrabba will start rising.
