The coffee growing elevations in the Cerrado region of Brazil average about 850 meters above sea level and the growing areas are huge, providing large quantities of coffee. Coffee from the Cerrado region is recognized worldwide for its distinctive flavor and high quality. It is part of the Savannah Coffee System managed by the Cerrado Coffee Growers Federation. This entity has several agreements with Brazilian and international institutions to develop training programs so the Cerrado coffee growers can meet food safety requirements established by demands for Social and Environmental Responsibility. While not necessarily certified as organic, most farmers utilize methods to maximize sustainability and limit negative environmental impacts. Therefore, the Cerrado Coffee Growers Federation brings together Associations and Cooperatives and is also the certifying organization for origin and quality of genuine Savannah coffee (Cerrado coffee).Brazilian Cerrado coffee is generally very aromatic, clean, with a good body and delicate acidity.
