Wow ... as I'll tell you - that was Exactly ! what I was feeling the very-first time that I saw these guys do their thing ' Live ' ... & Acoustic ! I mean, at least to my ears & eyes ... this duo looked like a situational & ideal !! act for Acoustic-Musicianship - in the Live Format ! And, I'm sad to say that I didn't really catch this act until a little later than most ! I think they put this tandem together either right in '88, or at maybe even the tail-end of '87 ... and I didn't catch them until 1991 ! But, when I did catch them - it was in Grand ! Fashion, and then some ... Whoa ! As these two were taking this awesome Bob & Rob Show !! to the Merriweather Post Pavilion !!! And, as I vividly-remember ... this was a Huge ! Show - with them of course, headlining ... or, as I probably more properly should say - they were doing their very-best job of " Scaring The Children " ! ( Ha ! ) - as that was-indeed what this Tour was billed as ! Some of the Show Tickets on this Tour, even had that printed right on them ! Way-cool ... Dang, and I must say - their sound was Full & Booming ! ... and, even more importantly - this was a Tight & Seamless Show !!! I don't know how else to say it, other than that they just Smoked-It ! And plus, as me & my crew were down in the pit - in the 8th row too ! - as I distinctly remember ... I think my ears rang for like a week ?!? And, it wasn't just from the sound out of the fat-set-stack ! of Acoustic PA's -- but, it was also from Tons ! of Girls just Screaming !!!!! at Bobby !?! Or, huh ... maybe he just ' scared ' them ? Nahhh ... Hah !! - Ace ! Classic ... All I know is that I wish I would have also caught some of the '89 East Coast Tour prior - and, for that matter ... the '90 stuff too -- and, the '88 ... which, I was Always ! so incredibly glad that they had captured here - right in this 13-Track 1997 GDCD release !!! This CD is just Killer ! And, is truly is " Early " Bob & Rob - as this is all material getting played live for the very first year, or years ! Plus, the way that these Boys would mix-in the Grateful Dead tunes, always ! ended up being to the crowd's collective delight ! Just check out these tracks - Wow ! - we're talking about Bobby & The Midnites !-material-meets-The Grateful Dead !! And, ' hand-selected ' Live versions too, naturally ... Festival - Walkin' Blues - The Winners ( Travels The Fastest, Travels Alone ! ) - KC Moan - Victim Or The Crime - Looks Like Rain - Easy To Slip - Fever - Eternity - This Time Forever - Shade Of Grey - Heaven Help The Fool - Blue Sky Bop - Throwing Stones !!! See what I mean ? Some seriously Ace-Hot Stuff ! And, as far as Wasserman goes ( if you're not already aware .. .) - this guy could flat-out Play !! ... ( R.I.P. - RW ! ) ... I mean he strokes that stand-up with Ultra-tight precision, and it Booms !! Plus, his tone could be happy if he wanted - or, just moody ! & mean !!
