Thomas Moran (1837–1926) was an American painter and printmaker best known for his breathtaking landscapes of the American West. Moran's most significant contribution to American art came from his depictions of Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon. His participation in the 1871 Hayden Geological Survey of Yellowstone led to a series of paintings that helped convince Congress to establish Yellowstone as the first national park in 1872. His vivid and romanticized portrayal of the West captured the imagination of the public and politicians alike. Chuck Olson Collection Chuck Olson spent over 40 years collecting and traveling the United States in search of unique vintage prints. He was especially interested in prints that were printed for use on calendars in the "Age of the Calendar" from 1900-1960. Chuck amassed a collection of well over 10,000 framed and unframed prints before his death. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about the item.
