The horse is attached to a base made to look like a rocking horse. There are wheels on the bottom of the base making moving this piece into the perfect spot easier! Definitely a show stopper and conversation starter! On display in your living room, child's bedroom, she shed, or on your covered patio. Bits are missing on one of the ears as well as on one side of the neck as shown in the photos. I am unsure of who made the horse or when it was made. I do know it had been used previously on the Crystal Cruise Lines on their luxury ships for Holiday decorations and they retired the horse around 2010. I also found a book with photos closely matching the horse in "Painted Ponies American Carousel Art" by William Manns, Peggy Shank and Marianne Stevens. In that book the photo that closely matches is a Stein & Goldstein The Artistic Caroussel Manufacturing Company. And again on the website vintagecarousels.com under carvers and manufacturers.
