Total carat weight 1.4(approximately). Piece is in overall excellent condition with just a slight gap between where the piece clasps, as seen in photos. Weighs 13.4 grams. Free shipping. He experimented with several different alloys until he discovered untarnished white gold jewelry in 1917. In 1918 he made his first patent for 18K white gold. He was experimenting with these alloys due to the platinum restrictions during the first world war. He was the pioneer for nearly all 18k white gold in the United States.
