Living in Arizona, we don't really experience Fall as a season. The beautiful autumn colors are what I miss the most from my time growing up in the Midwest. For a long time I want to create a piece that captures the beauty of autumn and this necklace is it. I just love the romantic feel of the entire creation! Each rose component was handmade by folding sheets of metal mesh to create a natural look. The antiqued brass tulips and hollow rounds provides texture and helps by providing balance to the piece. Finally, I added the large wooden beads to pickup the more earthier tones. The necklace is flexible and will conform comfortably to the wearer's neckline. Each individual piece was hand stressed and plated so please expect slight variations from the photos. ♥♥♥ Measurements ♥♥♥ - The center "acorn" component measures 1.5in x 1.5in - The gold rose flowers (comes in two tones) range from 1.5in x 0.8in to 1.0in x 0.6in - The entire necklace measures 18.5in long with a 3.0in extender - This piece weights approximately 6.0oz (1.0 lb = 16.0oz) ♥♥♥ How Is It Made ♥♥♥ Each creation in my statement collection is made using a complicated mold cast process. I like to sketch awhile before I start so a lot of these pieces actually got started in the summer. I usually only cast metal pieces in the winter and spring because they are all done in my well ventilated garage and it's like 120 degree in Phoenix from June-Sept so it can get quite unpleasant! Each individual pewter component is casted individually and then polished, soldered or strung together to create the final look. The whole thing is then plated with a very thin layer of my own blend of sterling silver and rhodium (rhodium prevents tarnishing). I use to do the plating by dipping the entire piece in the molten hot silver mixture but that was very messy. Now I just air spray it on for a smooth, uniformed look!
