Anschen is considered to have invented and perfected the expansion watch bracelet. In addition, A & Z also made very fine gold filled jewelry such as rings, bracelets, chains, key rings, and crosses. In 1970, the company merged with the Walter E. Haywood Company to become A & Z Hayward. METAL: 12k Yellow Gold Filled DETAILS: ~ Early to mid 1900s Edwardian Era Hinged Bangle Bracelet~ Floral motif (on both sides) with Taille d'Epargne Black Enamel detailing set upon a Guilloche/Engine turned design. ~ Secure Tongue in Groove Box Clasp; Depress the outside latch to open and close. Opens wide (2.5") for an easy on. ~ The tongue is stamped 1/20 12kt GF A & Z. ~ The last reference photo depicts some Taille d'Epargne bracelets from an early 1900s catalog. CONDITION: Remarkable Antique condition considering the age! This does not have a safety chain, but as you can see on the catalog page, not all bracelets came with them although loops were still added - some women preferred not to have the chains as they made it more difficult to get the bracelet on.
