Description: This is an Extremely Rare 50th Anniversary Les Paul R9 - 1959 Read below to learn more about this long-lost guitar. If you know Les Paul's you know the Gold Plaque (COA) 1959 R9 Guitars are the rarest of the bunch during this 50th anniversary year. They split the 500 Gold Plaque COA's into two versions, 250 in Cherry Burst, and 250 in Dark Burst. Both guitars were made in parallel to each other. This is serial number 250/500, the final Cherry Burst to come off the production line. The neck holds the simplified serial number 99 250 versus all the elongated serial numbers. The rumor is that the final serial numbers were never meant to be sold to the public. On August 12th, 2009, Les Paul passed away, and it is believed these guitars were meant to be part of a museum piece. I've stored this guitar since purchasing it as an investment/museum piece. Everything is new in the box. Own a piece of EXTREMELY RARE history.
