Description: Description Gibson / 1942 Banner Southern Jumbo Vintage Sunburst ≪S/N:20774040≫ Custom Shop HISTORIC COLLECTION - ROUND SHOULDER DREADNOUGHT The Southern Jumbo, born in 1942, is known as a higher-end model of the J-45. The Southern Jumbo is now standard with mahogany sides/backs, but in the early days of its birth in 1942, it had rosewood sides/backs. This time, the Montana factory custom shop team is reproducing the first year's 1942 "Banner" Southern Jumbo! The all-solid round shoulder body has an Adirondack red spruce top and rosewood sides/backs. This top board has been "thermally aged" to help reproduce the vintage sound! This new technology "reproduces the characteristics of wood as it ages, the state in which the oil inside the wood is removed, and the state in which the wood itself becomes high quality"!! ! In addition, the top is made of Adirondack red spruce scalloped X-bracing, which is glued in place just like the neck joint. The Gibson scale mahogany neck is a C-shape, which is easier to get into than the extra-thick neck of the Vintage, but the nut width is wider at 1.77" (44.95mm). It also has 19 frets, just like the original! In 1949, it had the same upper belly bridge as the current model, but it used the down belly bridge from before and used a long saddle. The headstock is decorated with the banner "Only a Gibson is Good Enough," and is equipped with open-back pegs and a script logo. The pickguard is also equipped with a teardrop with a fire stripe pattern that can only be seen on early models. In addition, the nitrocellulose lacquer finish is a "thin finish" that is about half the thickness of the regular gloss finish, and a VOS finish is also used to give it a vintage feel! It has a crisp, thick sound with excellent response and a loud sound, just as you'd expect from Gibson!
