GIANT antique SPOKANE WASH western amber MEGAPHONE from LOS ANGELES WINE Co.

Description: A GIGANTIC 13 1/2 inch tall amber-colored cylinder MEGAPHONE shaped antique western BRANDY - WINE - WHISKEY bottle from Spokane WASHINGTON. These are referred to as MEGAPHONE WHISKEY BOTTLES and were put out by a few western liquor dealers. This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand Blown Into Mold bottle (BIM) with a tooled top, dating it back to the late 1800 - early 1900 era. Bottle embossed in circle: "LOS ANGELES WINE Co. / SPOKANE, WASH." Condition: This bottle is in excellent clean condition. It is NOT a dug bottle and just has some traces of typical age wear and content haze. There are some rogue mold marks on the base, clearly done in manufacturing, as a glass blower certainly had a heck of a time tooling the top and steadying the base on something this big and in this shape. It has NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. PLEASE see pictures for idea of overall condition. PLEASE see pictures to get accurate idea of overall appearance and condition. Age: An ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand-blown bottle (Blown-In-Mold = BIM) with a tooled-top, ca. possibly late 1800's, more likely early 1900's. Shipping: FREE DOMESTIC shipping. I don't think these bottles were discarded too often as it was such an impressive vessel and could be used again to hold a large quantity of liquid for household use or travel. We've seen a few of these over the years with paper labels, the labels were for PORT WINE which makes sense as you often find wine, even today, in half gallon bottles. But I have heard of others sporting WHISKEY and BRANDY labels, but haven't seen one and I don't know, that sounds a little excessive, a half gallon of BRANDY or WHISKEY? It does seem like most of these that you see are from JAS. DURKIN, Spokane Washington whereas the L.A. WINE CO are a little rarer. Actually, no matter what, any of these embossed MEGAPHONES are desirable and rarely seen for sale.
