Condition In fine condition.Collection Information Quintessentially French, this impressive studio collection of works by Georges Pacouil exudes understated elegance. Highly figurative, with a focus on both the female nude and views around Paris, the artist's oeuvre is handsomely demonstrated.Biography Georges Pacouil (1903-1997) was born in Paris to Catalan parents. A student at the Bernard-Palissy School and above all a student of the pointillist Hippolyte Petitjean, Pacouil's life was punctuated with medals and honorary prizes from an early age. A neo-realist painter, his work focuses on form, giving priority to the structure of nature. His work is similar to that of Segonzac and Lapatelliere. Pacouil worked as both a theatre decorator and teacher. After 1934, he focussed on painting, exhibiting in numerous salons in France and becoming a member of the Salon d'Automne. He also exhibited internationally, in the Balkans, Tunisia, and both San Francisco and Pittsburgh in the USA. His work is in the collection of the National Museum of Modern Art, Paris. Sulis Fine Art traces its origins back four generations. Benjamin Diamond opened a picture framing factory in Midtown Manhattan in the early 20th century. Originally known as Royal Art, the business worked closely with artists and museum institutions, developing a reputation for creating fine frames. Royal Art passed through the family and eventually evolved into Sulis, now run by Benjamin's grandson Bill, and his son Dan. Based in the South West of England, we source art from across the British Isles and ship worldwide. We handpick all our stock and we've grown into a ten-strong team of art historians, photographers, restorers, studio technicians and despatchers. We relocated to our Corsham studio in early 2020, leaving behind our small garden workshops in Bradford-on-Avon that had been our base for several successful years. Now located on the edge of the Cotswolds, our current home allows the team to work alongside our large catalogue of artworks, allowing us to provide you with fast global shipping and top-notch customer service. We are always striving to connect people with the art they love. Each week we add new artworks to our extensive catalogue, across all styles, subjects, colours and periods. At the heart of Sulis, we rescue and restore lost and forgotten works, giving you the opportunity to find unique pieces and discover art in a new and different way. View All Artworks View More -->
