They are friction fit, very snug, and snap into original holes. They have ~5° of up and down adjustability if desired, but I keep them straight for a flush look. They were designed to be stationary! The vents are angled permanently to be aimed towards both driver and passenger. If you’ve wanted to buy an original set, you know how stupidly expensive they are.
