No player name actually appears anywhere on the card. These were issued in packs and described as "The Baseball Enquirer" and "Mystery Interview" cards. On the backs are questions and answers supposedly related to the player being caricaturized. These make fun of the players experiences and perceived frailties. Some of the apparent players parodied are quite obvious to dedicated baseball followers. But a few are now a challenge to recognize as the emphasis seems to be on situations and circumstances that would have occurred recently (1991). Some non current players caricatured are Johnny Bench, Joe DiMaggio (as Mr Coffee), Tom Lasorda, Jim Palmer, Phil Rizutto, Pete Rose, Bob Uecker and Yankee owner George Steinbrenner. As no player is actually named there is no license from Major League Baseball Properties or the Major League Baseball Players Association. But unlike anonymously issued "broder" cards, these do carry a copyright, 1992 Confex. The packs also list the company name and address. This set precedes the similar unlicensed 1993 Cardtoons parody issue. The Cardtoons producer later was involved in a lawsuit with MLB and won the right to release the Cartoons set as a parody without any MLB licensing requirement. This Baseball Enquirer parody issue is probably then "legit" in current view and possibly could be included in future hobby price guides. Combined Shipping on multiple purchases.
