Description: This is a rare May 29th, 1924 programme (playbill) from the 450th performance of the FRED JACKSON, WILLIAM DALY, PAUL LANNIN, GEORGE GERSHWIN and IRA GERSHWIN musical comedy "STOP FLIRTING" at the Strand Theatre in London. (The musical originated on Broadway as "FOR GOODNESS SAKE", opening February 21st, 1922 at New York's Lyric Theatre where it ran for 103 performances. The production was retitled "STOP FLIRTING" when the show crossed the Atlantic opening May 30th, 1923 at London's Shaftesbury Theatre. The production transferred to the Queen's Theatre on July 28th, 1923 and settled into the Strand Theatre on October 22nd, 1923, running for a combined 224 performances. Following a commitment in the States by Fred and Adele Astaire, the production returned to London's Strand Theatre for an additional five months.) ..... The musical marked the London debut of composer GEORGE GERSHWIN, who with his brother Ira contributed "Someone" and "Stairway to Paradise" which had been a hit in the 1922 edition of "George White's Scandals".
