Description: *NOTE TO EBAY - THESE BOXES ARE EMPTY AND DO NOT CONTAIN ANY RESTRICTED AMMUNITION COMPONENTS*Up for your consideration is a set of two empty reproduction M1911 .45 ACP 20 round ammunition cartons, with FRANKFORD ARSENAL (F A) labels from the inter-war period (1920s-1930s).Model 1911 ball rounds were first manufactured at Frankford Arsenal starting in August 1911, with contract manufacturing continuing with the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. starting in December 1912. Another early contract was given to the Remington Union Metallic Cartridge Co., with those rounds being delivered by April 1912. During 1913 additional contracts were given to the Peters Cartridge Co. and the United States Cartridge Co. Those initial contract rounds were used for testing new pistols made under contract by Colt. However, the bulk of the M1911 ball rounds were manufactured by Frankford Arsenal, with production continuing in the interwar period. There were several minor changes in bullet diameter, and various powders were used in the manufacture of ball rounds in the years between the world wars. Those changes were reflected in the different labels applied to the boxes, and the cloth tear strips continued to be used up to the early 1940s production.Each "Buy It Now" single purchase is for 2 unassembled cartons with dividers and labels. The two labels represent rounds manufactured in the 1920s and 1930s, when Frankford Arsenal was still the primary supplier of all M1911 ball ammunition. The cartons, dividers and labels will be shipped flat, with assembly instructions.
