Description: Shown in the last picture, on one set of pages near the very beginning of the book with the 'Foreword' there is a small spatter of a liquid substance. It looks as if someone had a bowl of soup in their lap, and the spoon plopped into it with the book open. It is NOT foxing, although it is a very similar amber color. It is exclusively on this opening page and is definitely some bit of spatter as the clear symmetry of it shows. It appears the book was closed while the spatter was fresh. There is NO foxing anywhere in this book. Folio Society books are constructed using only high-quality materials with uncompromising methods by masters in bookmaking. All are wonderfully illustrated on gorgeous paper with deep fonts. For most people who are only familiar with generic Chinese-manufacturered, mass-produced books, the obvious quality difference is instantly revelatory. The wavy effect that may appear in multiple pictures is only "moiré pattern". It occurs when a scene or an object that is being photographed contains fine, repetitive details that exceed sensor resolution. As a result, the camera produces strange-looking wavy patterns. It is simply an effect and doesn't exist on the book in real life.
