Description: #2708 - Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Amethyst can take many different crystal forms, and amethyst "flowers," which resemble flower petals, are among the most unusual formations. The amethyst is pale in color, which is typical of Flowers of Amethyst, and is often mixed with white quartz crystals. These amethyst crystals (and the quartz that is mixed with it) are not the normal hexagonal points one thinks of when picturing amethyst. Amethyst "flowers" gets its name because many of these formations create a spherical pattern of crystals that look like flowers. The flowers are very rare, and most of the flowers of amethyst just have strange formations (odd-looking crystals). The location is San Gabriel, R.S., Brazil. The specimen pictured is a Flower of Amethyst with the odd-looking type crystals. The crystals are really hard to describe. What looks like a single crystal appears like several crystals were squeezed together. This specimen measures 4 1/2 inches long, 4 inches wide, and 2 inches thick( the 2 inch is mostly the crystal length). It weighs 12.0 ounces (340g).
