Description: Up for bid is an original vintage pre-owned FLEETWOOD "Trains & Boats & Planes & More" Stamp Collection in Folder Mint. Fleetwood began producing First Day Covers in 1941 with the Vermont Statehood issue. Most Fleetwood cachets (designs) are full-color works of original art. Most Fleetwood First Day Covers feature interesting information about the stamp subject. Fleetwood First Day Covers are produced for both commemorative and regular issue U.S. stamps of all denominations. This is a Fleetwood collection of mint stamps from around the world honoring man's conquest of land, sea, and sky. Each stamp in the collection illustrates a milestone in man's relentless desire to tame distances, move faster and faster... ultimately escape the grasp of the earth itself. The stamps, including back issues no longer available from postal authorities, are displayed uncancelled/never used in mint perfect condition. In addition, an original work of art has been created exclusively to complement each stamp. These full color works have been rendered with painstaking attention to detail by Basil Smith, whose distinctive, picturesque style has made him one of Britain's foremost artists. They are presented in a handsome red padded folder, 9"x10" in dimension and is 2" thick when closed. Each cachet is a full color envelope with an image of the automobile, locomotive, plane, or ship on the front (as well as Airships, Submarines, Bicycle, U.S. Space Shuttle and Hot Air Balloons) and an essay on the subject on the reverse, with the stamp mounted in its own plastic protected window. There are 51 stamps from around the world, including United States that were issued from 1959 to 1984. The stamps are new and unhinged and are encased in a protected transparent mount. There are 50 cachets, 2 cachets per page in an acid free plastic page that allows for display and protection of the front and reverse. The last cachet is a Fleetwood The Greatest Military Heroes of America depicting Ulysses S. Grant with a 1984 US Flag and 1962 Civil War Centennial Shiloh stamps.
