Description: A chapter in the book concerns the Winchester carbine in use by the Northwest Mounted Police at the time of the Riel Rebellion of 1885. Characteristics were fixed through locating a specimen still in police possession. Its serial number supplied the key to early factory records giving the date and number of weapons ordered and their specifications differing from standard. These last identified an unmarked arm in the Winchester Museum as the original prototype for the Mounted Police carbine. Details of its absorption, found in the annual reports of the commissioner, complete the story. 207 pages. Hard cover with clipped dust jacket. Ex-Library. Weight = 800 g BOOK CONDITION = VERY GOOD
