FINE PINK MORRILL POINT - SHUMATE COLLECTION

Description: Nice Morrill projectile that measures 2 1/4" long by 1 1/4" wide. From the Late Archaic period with an estimated age of 3,000 BP. Made out pink heat treated Burlington chert. Found in the Cedar / Webster counties area of Missouri. Slight beveled and lightly serrated. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. This piece was found by Roland Shumate (1914 - 2002) who was from Springfield, Greene County, Missouri. A family collection that was collected over a few generations from about 1915 to the late 1950's by Mr. Shumate, his dad Peter, and his family. The collection was bought by Roy Hathcock of West Plains, Missouri, then by C.J. O'Neill of Charlotte (now Monroe) North Carolina. I bought this piece from Mr. O'Neill in 1997. This point was looked at and given a verbal opinion as 100% Authentic by AAI / John Berner. All relics are 100% guaranteed Prehistoric Authentic unless stated otherwise.
