Description: ANTIQUE TRINKET BOX A delightful antique coromandel (or calamander) veneered (on oak) trinket box of exceptional quality. Beautifully inlaid with marquetry panels of contrasting satinwood shell design inlay to both the lid and front, upon a large stepped plinth with contrasting centre band. Internally the quality feel is continued with a contrasting interior and a semi 'secret' blue velvet-lined drawer which is accessed via a push rod disguised as a screw head. The box has two brass carry handles with design details in the manner of the Aesthetic Movement. Date: late 19th Century. Condition: Very good functional condition. The drawer has been relined in new velvet. Externally the box has been refinished to a high sheen level. The green felt base is a replacement. The key is absent but the lock is in the unlocked position.
