Description: For those that take wet weather seriously…Filson style 1432. New , never worn, without tags , Filson oil cloth rain bibs. Filson’s motto : “Might as well have the best.” How true. Let’s start with the size: per the tag , XL. For example, I have a 38 waist and a height of 5ft 10.— these bibs are way (too ) roomy and plenty long enough; apparently they fit long. The generous sizing allows for some under layers. The inseam states 31. That is accurate but the way they are constructed, the length is very generous & the bibs fit longer than expected. FYI- They were only sold in 2 lengths; 31 or 33. (See this in the Filson photo description). The overall length, from the waist to the hem is approximately 48 inches. The straps are not included in this measurement. This garment is sized for comfort & movement. I did try them on before listing to give an accurate assessment. Now, if the sizing works for you, read on. These bibs, of this material, do not appear in the Filson Catalog anymore nor have they appeared for many years. The oil-cloth is still used but the bibs aren’t on the menu. The production tag suggests a build date of June of 2005. Yes. These have been tucked away for a long time. This pair has a high waist with bib straps. The bibs are constructed of a very tightly woven oil cloth. That, along with the inner lining, keep you very water resistant and also serves to limit the wind chill factor. Here is the best part: rain gear with straps are a definite plus; you don’t have to keep adjusting the waist or constantly pulling your pants up. The bibs have a front snap closure and a long zipper fly for easy in & out. Also, these bibs are fully lined for easier ingress / egress. The leg openings are wide and secured by 2 Filson snaps on each leg. Inside the pants , at the waist, you will find 2 drawstring adjustments so you can snug things up. There are also a snap on either side at the top of the waist to take up some slack. Those snaps can be seen in the in the 2nd photo. Want more? There is a fully lined pocket, at the hip ,on either side of the bibs & secured with Filson snaps. Quality? This kind of quality doesn’t go out of style nor is it a fad. It is timeless. This garment is not disposable; it is meant to be used time after time, year after year. These bibs would be great for the hunter, the outdoorsman or maybe the commuter that wants to get to work clean and dry. I bought these for my job but our company switched to mandatory FR clothing before they could be worn. Fast forward the foggy memory…I am recently retired & while cleaning out my closet… imagine my surprise! All these years they were tucked away & forgotten in their original plastic bag. I’ve always preferred Filson because of the quality. This is not a knock-off product, it is the real deal, made in USA. The wet season is upon us. Now is the time. Buy now, you won’t be disappointed.
