Liner notes read: It was in October 1970 that the 1st of Sydney Samuelson’s Filmharmonic concerts electrified a packed Royal Albert Hall. Since that occasion Filmharmonic has become an outstanding annual event in the world of film music. Some of the finest creative talents have come to Kensington to conduct the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Nelson Riddle, David Rose, Maurice Jarre, Miklos Rozsa and John Barry are among those who have already appeared. From the original 1970 concert, Polydor issued a double album that included, as well as Henry Mancini and Emlmer Bernstein, Muir Mathieson and James Mason. Now we offer a single album purely of highlights involving Mancini and Bernstein. For those who were there, it will be a reminder of the unique atmosphere in the Royal Albert Hall; for those who may be new to film music – the start of a beautiful friendship!
