Description: A fine example of a Federal two part mahogany secretary desk, its upper case with a split pediment scrolled crest with miniature brass rosettes and reeded block finials, surmounting two glass doors with arched glass panes, opening to three open cubbies over three fitted drawers, with two fitted drawers with brass knobs below them. The lower case features a fold-out felted writing surface over three long drawers, each with bookmatched crotched mahogany veneers and oval punched brass pineapple decorated pulls, flanked by barley twist full columns, all supported by four nicely turned round legs. The wide back boards have been hand scraped. The piece is in very good condition, with some minor edge repairs, imperfections and light wear commensurate with age and use. Includes keys for the upper and lower case. Dimensions: 68” H x 38” W x 18” D.
