Description: Name: Fossil Seed Fern Plate Age: Pennsylvanian Formation: Llewellyn Formation Location: Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania Size: Plate is 9 inches diagonal! This is a very nice plate of plant fossils from the now-closed location at St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The distinct fossil ferns are preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale - quite beautiful! The detail of the fossils is very nice, and the individual fern fronds are wonderfully showcased and nicely spaced on the natural plate of shale. There are many nice fern fronds preserved on the plate, with a few fronds also fossilized on the back side (not pictured)...cool! This is a very displayable plate of classic white seed fern fossils from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania - very impressive!A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS.com is included with this specimen.Note: International customers may have to pay a duty at Customs - every country's rules are different.
