Description: ANTIQUE BRASS TRIVET A fabulous and undoubtedly rare English 'Gothic Revival' brass footman trivet. It features gothic tracery to the front and sides including pierced quatrefoils and cut-outs that resemble bird profiles. The top has a pierced design of semi-circles, roundels, lozenges and a central petal shape. Almost certainly one of the best Gothic trivets available.The trivet is made of exceptionally thick gauge brass which is bolted together and the rear of the frame has a steel plate and round legs of turned appearance. Date: mid to late 19th Century Condition: Good functional condition. The brass has been recently cleaned. The underside and inside edges have antique tarnished colour. The steel has light surface rust marks.
