Description: DIOPTASE on CALCITE: Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Oshikoto Region, Namibia. Dimensions: 7.3 x 4.3 x 2.7cm, small cabinet. This is a beautiful Dioptase on Calcite piece from Tsumeb! Intense emerald-green and super lustrous Dioptase crystals from 2mm up to 1.2cm are mostly isolated on a matrix of small white Calcite crystals with the Calcite showing well between and around the Dioptase crystals to enhance the contrast! The large doubly terminated crystal at the top measures 1.2cm in length and 0.7cm in width and at least a dozen slightly smaller Dioptase crystals in a grouping adjacent to it! All of the larger crystals are a rich dark green and the tiny ones are just amazingly bright and scatter light! These crystals have intense color with brilliant internal reflections and are mostly gemmy to slightly translucent. In excellent condition. And there's a minor amount of Duftite on the back.
