Description: Auction description England 1890: The Light in Hertfordshire, Very Good Watercolor I acquired this well-made English watercolor on paper from a dealer colleague in Paris. He, in turn, says he turned it up at a village flea market in Hertfordshire. The thatched roof on the old barn needs a repair, but that contributes to an interesting interplay of forms and afternoon light (chimney, old door). This is skilled and evocative work, from the late nineteenth or early twentieth century. Dimensions of the are about 9 inches by 11.5 inches.
