This is a 5-string bass guitar made by the original brand " Bottom Wave " of the well-known Japanese distributor "Ben Corporation" . The MB-5 is available in 60's and 70's models depending on the position of the rear pickup, but this is the 70's model. The quilted maple body top is particularly noteworthy. It has a very beautiful quilted grain. Probably it is beautiful enough to be used as an object in a room. The body back is ash. It weighs 5kg (11.02 lbs.), and the output sound is a solid bass sound because of its weight. The pickup that is indispensable for that bass sound is the Fodera made AERO JJ-5. The preamp is also genuine. The only change from the genuine is that the strap pin has been replaced with a Jim Dunlop one. The fingerboard is rosewood.
