Description: This is one of a series of four hard to find Edward Gorey designed notecards/postcards. See my other listings. Condition of these notecards/postcards is like new, unused, not mailed. Cards measure 152mm by 102mm (6 inches by 4 inches). Gorey's Figbash character is shown in an acrobatic, tumbling position. Figbash is grasping a blank notecard, a well-known device in many of Edward Gorey's drawings. The reverse is blank. These cards do not appear to have been distributed or sold elsewhere. I acquired a number of these through an auction of Gotham Book Mart new-old-stock. Gorey mailed a one-off set with written and printed quotes to friend Consuelo Joerns in 1999. These are referred to as "Ted's Japanese cards 1999" (Ashcroft and Moore auction house). The vintage cards were printed by A Printery, West Yarmouth, Massachusetts, USA. Gorey lived his final years in Yarmouth, where his house is now the Edward Gorey House Museum. I will combine shipping on multiple postcards.
