Description: Bakewell Pears & Co Glass HONEYCOMB Vernon Form Dresser Vanity Powder Box POMADE JAR - No Lid We are pleased to offer this very rare pomade jar without lid in the gorgeous HONEYCOMB pattern (AKA: Vernon, Thousand Faces, Cincinnati Honeycomb) manufactured by the Bakewell Pears & Company of Pittsburgh, PA circa 1875. This antique dresser vanity jar was used to store hair products such as cream, oils and conditioners as well as face powder. It was also used as a hair receiver with a round opening in the cover. Today it can be put to everyday use as a potpourri, Q-tip, or cotton ball holder - even a flower vase or votive candle holder. It features a beautiful crystal clear all-over honeycomb design wrapped around the entire jar that gives it a touch of elegance and Victorian appeal. This design is raised on the outside and can be felt, whereas the interior is smooth. It has a starburst flower in the bottom. When tested under black light, it glows beautifully! It stands 3-1/4" tall. It measures 2-1/4" wide at the rim; 2-1/4" wide at the base; and 4" wide at its widest. It is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. It has straw marks & air bubbles that are normally found in early American pattern glass. Just a lovely piece of vintage EAPG that you are sure to want to add to your collection.
