Description: At home in Chicago, George Calden (Ed Asner) receives information regarding a downed jetfighter, possibly belonging to his son, Brendan, who has been missing in action since the Vietnam War. George tries to enlist his two remaining sons to go with him to search for Brendan's remains. While Sean (Richard Cox) a successful and wealthy entrepreneur who dodged the draft agrees to go, George's other son Bob (Robin Thomas) is reluctant because he served in Vietnam and has never quite recovered from the experience. Eventually he is persuaded and brings along his son Patrick (Adam Brody) on an unforgettable journey. The family sets out on a difficult crusade. With the help of archeologist Julie Conroy (Illeana Douglas) and aircraft specialist Stan Wade (Harold Sylvester) and a group of Vietnamese workers, they begin to dig. The discover they're in the right spot when they small pieces from a jet. They later get confirmation from CILHI (Central Identification Lab Hawaii) that the markings are indeed Brendan's plane. However, the family's good fortune does not hold up when the following day, Vietnamese soldiers shut the site down. George, who's been sick, collapses. Sean and Bob find out that George has been keeping a secret - he's terminally ill and this trip was his last chance to find Brendan. Faced with the difficult decision of taking their ill father home, the brothers decide to continue to search for Brendan's remains despite the fact that General Temekin (Dale Dye) has ordered them to leave. Meanwhile, Patrick has developed a relationship with a local girl Tuyet (Kathleen Luong). When Bob finds out that his son is dating her, he becomes furious and creates havoc in the village and threatens Mr. Pham (Aki Aleong) because he is still angry about his experience in Vietnam. The following morning, after reflecting on his life and resentments, Bob asks Patrick to come with him to the village where he apologizes to Mr. Pham. Afterwards, Bob' relationship with his son begins to improve. The group continues to work, but is making little progress until the Vietnamese General returns their tools, recognising Bob's act of kindness to Mr. Pham. The fact remains however that even though they found parts of Brendan's plane, they have not found any evidence of the boy. As fate would have it, it is Mr. Pham who comes to lead the crusaders through the jungle where he buried the soldier many years ago. In a tearful and happy moment, George hugs his two sons, holding Brendan's dog tags. At long last, Brendan has been found.
