Description: You are bidding on a large original antique print from an 1880s illustrated journal. It is a rare folio-sized color print from this era. It depicts a beautiful Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in the lap of a young girl. During the early part of the 18th century, John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, kept red and white King Charles type spaniels for hunting. The duke recorded that they were able to keep up with a trotting horse. His estate was named Blenheim in honour of his victory at the Battle of Blenheim. Because of this influence, the red and white variety of the King Charles Spaniel and thus the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel became known as the Blenheim. The print is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 11 x 16 inches (28 x 40.5 cm). The picture fills most of the page, with a caption below. The caption reads: In the Lap of LuxuryThe page is in excellent condition for its age EXCEPT for some smudges in the white margin area. . There is text/photos on the back of the print. See scan for an accurate view of the condition. This is GENUINE antique/vintage item. It is not a modern reproduction.
