There were 3 series issued in the first year of production (1987). The first series (this bill) contained the mistake on the top right front side which is printed with “ MAY BE USED AS LEGAL TENDER ONLY AT DISNEYLAND” The dollars could be used in both Disneyland and Disney World but the 1st series (serial numbers beginning with A), contained this phrase This minting error was fixed in the second issued (aka Type 2 A*****A Series) to include the expansion of the Disney Dollar to use as legal tender at Walt Disney World. The corrected bills now read “MAY BE USED AS LEGAL TENDER ONLY AT DISNEYLAND AND WALT DISNEY WORLD” Therefore, this is a very hard to find minting error. This first printing consisted of only 870,000 $1 bills and 176,000 $5 bills. They were printed by DPI Printers in Battlecreek, Michigan, United States and Engraved by the U.S. Banknote Corporation. The second series the (1987A), released at both parks, stated on the bill "May be used as legal tender only at Disneyland and Walt Disney World". Additionally, the type of paper was changed to “unwater marked” so that it would be more resistant in Florida’s climate. The Serial number also added the “A” on the end. The bill in this listing is 1st Series, First Day Issue Series 1987 - Disneyland, May 5, 1987. Serial number format A*******.
