Description: Standard size chrome postcard shows women standing outside the LeMoyne Crematory, the first in the USA, at Gallow's Hill in North Franklin Township near Washington, Pennsylvania. Francis Julius LeMoyne had it built on his own property in 1876, believing that cremation was a more sanitary way to dispose of bodies, preventing contamination of the drinking water. His remains are buried there. Photo by Jack Taylor. Unused; excellent condition. Payment is due within 10 days of purchase. eBay Store: Bonnpon Postcards and Gifts Member, International Federation of Postcard Dealers Sunshine and Tropical Post Card Clubs We ship up to 4 postcards for one shipping fee... so keep shopping!
