Description: DAS Northern Lights MarbleCollector SeriesBi-Modal Radioactive Lavender & LemonMINT-Run Date: 4/6/2019 This is another more recent marble from the DAS company started by Dave after he left JABO. I normally sell the more vintage JABO marbles, but every so often I come across a DAS marble that I think will become a nice collectable...and this is one of those. This marble is a fantastic example of a lavender colored marble that comes around once in a while. The vivid lavender and lemon swirls of glass add another whole dimension to this marble. This is one for the vault if you get it. Oh yeah, don't forget this marble is UV reactive when exposed to a black light. See last pic. That glowing glass is the lemondrop glass. This type of glass is called Fluorescent. FYI...Fluorescence is the emission of light by a substance that has absorbed light or other electromagnetic radiation. It is a form of luminescence. In most cases, the emitted light has a longer wavelength, and therefore a lower photon energy, than the absorbed radiation...in case you are curious... :-) The Bi-Modal feature is something worth explaining: this "bi-modal" characteristic means that when this marble is irradiated with standard UV light (like a regular UV flashlight) the reactive glasses in the marble re-radiate two different colors instead of one. The green base and red swirls together make an awesome UV package. If I am not mistaken, the pink glowing glass is selenium and the green glowing glass is cadmium. This marble has both. I try my best to take high resolution pictures to show exactly what you are getting as well as to rotate the marble to give multiple views. I use a Canon Rebel DSLR with built-in flash to reveal as much detail as possible for a clear picture. This marble was manufactured using the 3/4" machine and the size of this particular marble is 0.716". Note: after photographing this marble, I did find a small flaw that was hard to find, but it is there. I tried to capture it in the last picture. I have downgraded this from mint to mint minus, but I feel this is a still a very collectable marble (just not perfect). I have adjusted price accordingly.
