Description: Currency 1960 Egypt One Pound National Bank of Egypt Pick Number 30 Signed El Refay Beautiful Crisp Extremely Fine Banknote For your World or Egyptian Currency Collection-PCU592 Details Description: A beautiful crisp extremely fine or much much better banknote from Egypt. This is the Cairo 4 August 160 one pound banknote issued by the National Bank of Egypt. The banknote is blue and lilac in color on multi colored background. It depicts the image of Tutankhamen facing forward within a circular frame to the right of the front. The back is blue in color and shows ancient Egyptian temple ruins in water with a round white circle to its right (where the watermark is). The front also indicates that the note was issued according to the decree dated 25th June 1898. This particular note has the serial number 609880 and is from the series (Kha Dal) KD/69, which is displayed twice in black lettering on the front and not on the back. The note has a watermark depicting the head of the Sphinx of Giza. It is signed by Abd El Hakim El-Refay the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: 4 August 1960. Printer: Uncertain. Size: The banknote measures ~6 3/8" by ~3 3/8". Pick Number: P 30. Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice extremely fine or much much better with all the details being very well preserved. The note has no creases, shows no soiling, or staining. The note retains all of its original stiffness and crispiness. The corners are intact, nicely squared with minimum rounding but have a couple of bumps, especially the top right corner. It has no graffiti, no pinholes, no tears or splits. The note has three light vertical folds, which are very difficult to see but are definitely there. A beautiful crisp note in excellent original condition worthy of a spot in your collection of Egyptian banknotes. Please see scans for additional condition information.
